Olivia Blunt has aspired to become a P.I. When a once in a lifetime opportunity presents itself, she jumps at the opportunity to work for the world’s greatest detective, Aubry Merritt. She gets hired as Merritt’s assistant and soon discovers that her boss and her new job isn’t exactly what she thought it would be.
Then an opportunity presents itself. A case that seems to be just a suicide, but the victim's daughter believes something more sinister transpired. Was it just a suicide, or was it murder?
That’s what Merritt is hired to find out. Finally, Olivia has the chance to hopefully get her feet wet in actual P.I. work. But is she made of the right stuff to be a P.I. or is she in over her head?
Liza Tully has done a wonderful job crafting a tale told from a very human and relatable character of Olivia, a detective that holds her own, and a perfect blend of other characters throughout the mystery. The mystery itself has enough twists and turns. What I really like is how Olivia is used to pull in the reader and as the case goes, the reader feels like the amateur couch detective, as the story unfolds.
